There are many class reward system ideas, to help your classroom economy and classroom management. A well-designed classroom management plan can significantly enhance your classroom economy and motivate your students to actively participate in their learning journey. Here are some effective class reward system ideas to help create a positive and engaging classroom environment.
A Classroom Store Has a Role in a Classroom Economy
Giving students special privileges using reward coupons are not as hard on your pocketbook. Some of the greatest class reward system ideas are free after the cost of the reward coupons. These benefits can include extra computer time, the option to choose their seating arrangement, a chance to be the teacher’s assistant for a day, or the opportunity to lead a class activity. Students seem to like the incentive tickets and get excited about the reward coupons just the same as toys and prizes, if not more!
However if you prefer, you can set up a classroom store where students can redeem their earned money for various classroom prizes (from Amazon). These can range from school supplies, stickers, and small toys.
I usually open the class store on Fridays. I don’t make it a daily thing unless they have met a long-term goal or specific challenge. And I never open the store when there is a substitute teacher in my classroom. There are many classroom management strategies to choose from. This system can serve as a motivational tool for students and can be complemented by the establishment of a classroom store.
Classroom Jobs Working for Your Classroom Store
I have implemented “store clerks” for our class store and that has gone well. I have students who are called “job enforcers” who have clipboards and check off when students do their jobs. There are many class reward system ideas, but a classroom store can be an essential part of a classroom economy system. By implementing classroom jobs, you can create a structured, engaging environment that promotes active participation and rewards positive behavior.
Students Can Track Their Cash
Additionally, you can take your class store a step further and have your students purchase pencils, erasers, highlighters, and even rent their desks with their classroom money.
Some teachers decide to let their students choose where to keep their money. Be sure to remind them to keep it in a safe place. You can also give your students a paper wallet, or plastic sandwich zip bag, or have them keep it in their pencil pouch. I tell them if they lose their classroom cash, I will not replace it.
Furthermore, a classroom economy can tie into financial literacy. This is beneficial because it can be taught all year long instead of in one or two lessons. You can use a debits and credits ledger, an income and expenses sheet for upper grades, or a simple log. Students can keep this log with their money or another location they use frequently and won’t get lost.
Part of the class reward system ideas, there are printable math facts on the back of the cash for when students fiddle with the money. Students can review math facts without even realizing learning is taking place!
Class Reward System Ideas for Class Goals
Another class reward system ideas is to implement Fun Fridays. Dedicate one day of the week, such as Fridays, to have engaging and enjoyable activities. Incorporate games, team-building exercises, or creative projects to reward students for their hard work throughout the week.
Another class reward system idea is to organize special events or outings as rewards for meeting specific milestones or goals. These can include field trips, movie days, or guest speakers, providing students with unique and memorable experiences.
To enhance your classroom economy, consider incorporating a variety of class reward system ideas. By implementing these class reward system ideas will not only encourage positive behavior and academic growth, but also fosters a sense of community within your classroom. Tailor these ideas to suit your students’ needs and watch their enthusiasm and engagement soar!
